Waking up in the Valley of the Giants

I took this photo from our balcony as the sun was going down.

We woke up to the sunrise over the Mittens at Monument Valley.  Elevation 5,500 ft.  Time: 5:30 am.  Didn't even need the alarm, the view woke us all up. Was it worth it?  Absolutely!

Stopped by the Trading Post to pick up a few things for the kids, then hit the road at 8:32am.  Spotted a coyote from the road on the way outta town - or wait - was that Lucinda?  Next stop - Lulu!

The road from Montezuma to Colorado may be the most fun drive so far...felt like we were flying, or driving off-road, but on pavement.

Another Dave original

Stopped for the best breakfast burrito ever at the Silver Bean in Cortez - the owner moved out here from Atlanta.

11:51 am, we enter the San Juan mountains - our home for the next 5 days. I've now driven the subie 2,100 miles and am ready to put the keys away for a few days. Telluride is unbelievable - gorgeous scenery everywhere you look, super-friendly people and a great place to stay (or live). More tomorrow.
